Building on Faith committee members have scheduled a "Raise the Roof Festival" on October 16, 2010 from 12:00 pm - 6:00pm. The location of the festival is at the Elicker's Grove Park at 511 Roth Church Rd. Spring Grove, PA. In partnership with Johnson Controls to raise money for a whole house build they have arranged various fundraisers with local resturants. When you come out and patron these places they will give us a percentage of your bill. What a GREAT and easy way to contribute to habitat, you get a day without cooking, a great meal, and your giving to a great cause. Johnson Controls is sponsoring a golf tournament! All proceeds to benefit the York, PA Johnson Controls employee's goal to sponsor a Habitat home. The tournament will be held at the Grandview Golf Club, 2779 Carlisle Rd. York, PA. on October 16, 2010 registration is 10:30am - 11:45am. with tee off time at 12:00pm. York Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for homes to be built in the next two years. Applicants must first attend a homeowner information meeting. Go to the homeownership page for details on Habitat's unique homeownership program.

CONSTRUCTION VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS. SIGN UP EARLY!
To ensure that construction volunteers are properly prepared prior to coming on-site, York Habitat now requires all construction volunteers to participate in a one-time orientation prior to scheduling work days in 2010. The 60 or 90 minute orientation informs participants on many different levels….Click here to learn more.

CORPORATE / ORGANIZATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
With the struggling economy, several local organizations who desire to sponsor homes are making 2-4 year pledges for future whole-house builds. The Realtors Association, Johnson Controls, AmeriSteel, State Farm, Susquehanna Commerce Center tenants, and William Penn High School have made commitments to sponsor homes and employees, students, and members will take an active role in both raising funds and constructing the homes which will be named after their organizations. YORK HABITAT BECOMES A UNITED WAY PARTNER AGENCY
York Habitat for Humanity was recently added to the United Way’s (www.unitedway-york.org) impressive list of partner agencies. We are delighted and thankful for the vote of confidence and look forward to being part of the United Way’s efforts to improve the York community! Funds will be used in the training programs for families and training and supervision of volunteers who build and rehab our Habitat homes for low income families in need.  Click here for York Dispatch article.

NSP GRANT AWARDED
The loan committee of the York County Planning Commission recently awarded York Habitat for Humanity a grant through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program that will enable Habitat to acquire and rehab 4-5 homes in designated areas of York County. The Habitat houses will become homes for low income families meeting the selection criteria and completing all Habitat program requirements. We are grateful for the assistance in achieving our affordable housing mission for low income neighbors in York County.  
 

York habitat partners with York symphony orchestra for their "raise the roof" season

   Music Director Robert Hart Baker will be “Raising The Roof” for the entire symphony season.Between virtuoso soloists at every subscription concert, and the star-power on the new three-concert Pops Series, there is really something for everyone. More information is available on their website www.yorksymphony.org .  You can order tickets via the web or  by phone  at the Strand box office at 717-846-1111. Any member of the YHFH family which includes, family, volunteers, staff, etc., will receive 2 for 1 pricing, subject to availability. Prices start at $25.
