York Habitat for Humanity will Hold Home Dedication Saturday, May 20th in York
Open House for the Green family will begin immediately after ceremony
York Habitat for Humanity will dedicate their 121st home to first-time homeowner Felisa Green and her son Jamar. This property, located at 727 Kelly Drive in York was made possible with contributions from the City of York, State Farm Insurance, The Harley-Davidson Foundation, First Presbyterian Church of York, and a donation from the state’s PHARE, (Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement) Fund.
As with all of York Habitat’s homes, this Habitat for Humanity house was built primarily by volunteers, including staff from several local businesses. Many local organizations and churches also contributed countless hours completing the project.
The Green family has been working with York Habitat for Humanity for more than a year now. During that time, Felisa prepared for becoming a homeowner by attending Habitat classes and keeping a strict monthly budget. Felisa volunteered more than 225 hours of “Sweat Equity” to the project. Friends, family and co-workers of the Greens also put in countless hours working on the new home.
The official Dedication Ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20th and the public is invited. An open house will take place immediately following the Dedication Ceremony, to give everyone a chance to tour the home and meet Felisa and Jamar Green.
